Partnership for Mission

Words of Saint Mary Euphrasia

If you always love one another, if you uphold each other, you will be able to work wonders

The Vision

The vision of the Partnership Team was drawn from a Good Shepherd Partnership Gathering held in Kuala Lumpar with Sisters and Mission Partners in 2008.

Our experience of Good Shepherd draws us together -

The strength of our Partnership propels us out for mission.

From the foundation of the Congregation in 1835, lay Mission Partners have been vital to the development of Good Shepherd.

In Asia Pacific, there is a new awareness of the importance of providing pathways for lay women and men, who are committed to the vision and spirit of Good Shepherd, to take genuine responsibility for the development of the Mission.

  • In partnership we identify with Good Shepherd spirit from whichever place we come and we recognise it in each other.

  • The strength of our partnership lies in equality and inclusiveness in our relationships. Partnership enriches us personally and communally.

  • Partnership and Co-responsibility for Mission

The Role

Since 2007 the role of the Partnership Team in collaboration with the provinces is to:

  1. Lead Good Shepherd Asia Pacific towards increased understanding of Partnership and Co-responsibility for Mission.

  2. Highlight pathways to enable Mission Partners (sisters and lay women and men) to take responsibility – together – for the development, governance and implementation of Good Shepherd Ministries.

Achievements

This Good Shepherd Asia Pacific Partnership Team organized two gatherings:

  • Partnership Gathering in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in June 2008.

  • Partnership Gathering in Singapore in August 2010.

At the Gatherings, people from all across Asia Pacific made new connections, shared ideas and stories, reflected upon the vision, spirit and mission of Good Shepherd and generated energy for the future.

Other developments:

  • Regular communication with Link Persons in each Province and with the Asia Pacific region.

  • New orientation/formation and leadership programmes, workshops and more inclusive structures for ministry planning have been developing.

  •  A new Good Shepherd Asia Pacific identity is born.....

Process of Integration begins

Following the Congregational Chapter 2015, the Asia Pacific Circle authorized a process to move towards the Integration of the four Teams of Asia Pacific:  Formation, Partnership for Mission, Spirituality, Justice Peace. The stage was set to reflect on the powerful Chapter Direction Statement which challenged Good Shepherd sisters and lay Mission Partners to go beyond, risk to respond to global issues, co-create and be co-responsible for the mission.

A series of meetings were held.
