Mission Development Program

The Ministry Team composed of Sr. Anya Borbon, Sr. Ailyn Binco, Sr, Angelita Clemen and Sr. Minela Alvarez worked in coordination with the different Province Teams (Province Leadership Team, Formation Team, Good Shepherd Partnership Team and MARTA Team) to develop a Mission Development Program.  Sessions were created by the Team to ensure effectiveness and sustainability of mission and better delivery of services, considering both the human and financial resources of the Province.

Content and process of the Program from Phase 1 to Phase 3

Phase 1           

GENERAL ORIENTATION  -  Getting to know the Good Shepherd

To review the RGS history and mission.

To appreciate the role of St. John Eudes and St. Mary Euphrasia in the Good Shepherd mission.

To get acquainted with the GS Congregational Thrust and Mission Standards.

Phase 2         

EMBRACING THE MISSION  -  Following the footsteps

To deepen understanding of the GS mission in the Philippines-Japan Province.

To review and listen to the sharing of GS mission partners on the best practices related to the guidelines and policies for the RGS mission.

To appreciate the value of stewardship and accountability.

Phase 3 

MISSION LEADERSHIP  -  Commitment for the Good Shepherd Mission

To provide professional training in areas needed in the mission.

To be with the lay mission partners in committing themselves in the GS mission.

The Sessions

Lipa City

The first group who underwent the Phase 1 were the Lay Mission Partners who are in leadership positions in the various Good Shepherd ministries in the Province.  A total of 19 participants joined the three – day session from 30 April – 2 May, 2018 at Good Shepherd Retreat House in Lipa City.

Sr. M. Lourdes Fabia (from the Formation Team) presented a session on Good Shepherd Spirituality Heritage.

Mrs. Teresita Barzaga, former member of the Good Shepherd Partnership Team (2008 – 2014) shared her experiences being a lay mission partner in the Good Shepherd Mission for more than 30 years.

Cebu City

Another session for MDP Phase 1 was given to twenty-nine lay mission partners in Cebu City.  The joyful and active participation of everyone was evident from day one up to the last session in the afternoon of day three as participants look forward with much enthusiasm to attending Phase 2 of the MDP.

Ritual of Blessing

Sr. Ailyn Binco from the Ministry Team led the Ritual of Blessing to end the sessions in Phase 1.

Prayer to the Good Shepherd 

Loving Shepherd, thank you for the presence of our lay mission partners, thank you for giving us the opportunity to come together and strengthen our partnership in mission so that we can ensure sustainability and effectiveness of this mission you have entrusted to our care.  Give us the grace to continue to hear your call so that like St. Mary Euphrasia and St. John Eudes we can be channels of your compassion and mercy, we make this prayer through Jesus, our Shepherd, AMEN.
