Province Chapter processes begin

 A privileged time....

The Congregation of Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd will hold its Congregational Chapter in 2021.  In preparation for this, Province Chapters will be held in every province commencing in 2019, and a number of Intercontinental Assemblies (ICAs) are being planned for 2020.

Province Chapter

The Province Chapter is a privileged time in the history of a province.  Through dialogue and prayer the chapter assesses the life of the province, renews its fidelity to the charism, and plans for the future.  It calls each sister to openness, conversion and greater zeal so that the unique gift of Christ, the Shepherd, may overflow into the Church and the world.    (Constitution 96)

Pre-Chapter meetings

As part of the chapter process, Pre-Chapter meetings provide space and time for deep listening to oneself and to each other on the realities of today and the priorities for the future.  Pre-Chapter meetings provide the opportunity for lay mission partners to contribute to the Province Chapter.  This process acknowledges that sisters and lay partners are together co-responsible for the effectiveness and sustainability of Good Shepherd Mission into the future.

The Province of North East Asia

The first province to have its Chapter in the Asia Pacific region is the Province of North East Asia.  It will have its 3rd Chapter from 10 – 18 October, 2019 based on the theme “Drawn by Love, Called to See Deeply, Respond Boldly.”

As part of the Chapter process, the province had its Pre-Chapters in Hong Kong from 17 - 19 June, 2019 and in Korea from 22 – 24 June, 2019, facilitated by Sr. Anne Dalton and Ms Theresa Symons.  The Pre-Chapters were attended by 17 apostolic sisters and 9 lay mission partners in Hong Kong, and 37 apostolic and 4 contemplative sisters and 6 mission partners in Korea.
