The Province Chapter is a privileged time in the history of a province. Through dialogue and prayer the chapter assesses the life of the province, renews its fidelity to the charism, and plans for the future. It calls each sister to openness, conversion and greater zeal so that the unique gift of Christ, the Shepherd, may overflow into the Church and the world. (Constitution 96)
As part of the chapter process, Pre-Chapter meetings provide space and time for deep listening to oneself and to each other on the realities of today and the priorities for the future. Pre-Chapter meetings provide the opportunity for lay partners-in-mission to contribute to the Province Chapter. This process acknowledges that sisters and partners-in-mission are together co-responsible for the effectiveness and sustainability of Good Shepherd Mission into the future.
From 28th November to 3rd December 2019, Province of Singapore-Malaysia had 35 sisters with two temporary professed sisters gathered for our 8th Province Chapter. We were blessed with the visit of Sister Bridget Paily, our Congregational Apostolic Councillor during this time of grace. Ms Jill McCorquodale facilitated the Chapter. During this time, two days were dedicated to include twenty six partners-in-mission and two novices at the deliberation on our future direction.
We are delighted with our newly appointed province leader Sr Salomi Cruz and her team Sisters Patricia Barasik, Delphine Kang and Jossie Sili.

In the midst of our Chapters, on the 1st December 2019, we celebrated the 80th Anniversary of our presence in Singapore. It began with Eucharist presided by Archbishop William Goh and concelebrated with Fathers Joachim Kang, Adrian Anthony and Gerard Louis CSsR.
Staff and residents put up a series of wonderful performances with a finale by sisters and partners-in-mission depicting the invitation by then Bishop Deval and the arrival of first four Good Shepherd sisters by ship and the evolution to today’s context, joining hands with the laity to meet the ever changing needs of the society. “You, me, we can work together;
You, me, we can ease the pressure;
Many hands make heavy hearts seem light;
Together we can take it… one day at a time.” Euphrasia, The Musical
Everyone that evening ended with a sumptuous buffet dinner, joyful and went away praising God for all God has done in Singapore the last 80 years!
